Karoo Biking, Cape Town based BMW Motorcycle tour specialists, has launched a two-week trip which starts in what the locals refer to as the Mother City, Cape Town, and which winds it way up Southern Africa’s West Coast to culminate in the capital of Namibia, Windhoek. The first of these city to city tours will run from 02 to 15 September 2007 and promises out of this world scenery spanning cityscapes to desolate Namib Desert dunes.
With both on and off-road riding, the Cape Town to Windhoek tour is an epic tribute to solitude and uninterrupted riding. The two weeks spent exploring one of the world’s oldest Deserts and its second largest canyon will be punctuated by the razzle-dazzle of city lights. Find out more about.
Southern Africa’s West Coast might not be as well known as the Garden Route but this doesn’t mean that it’s any less beautiful. Springtime (Aug, Sept and Oct) is particularly inspiring as the landscape blossoms in a surge of colour against a backdrop of sometimes craggy, sometimes sand filled, dessert terrain. This tour in mainly on-road, with some easy gravel road riding in the Cedarberge and the Northern Cape, as well as around Fish River Canon, the world’s second largest canyon.
